The Economics Circle is an independent platform for economic research and collaboration. It was initiated in 1997 by a group of students at the Marmara University Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, and then expanded by the participation of students from various universities in Turkey. Over the years, the activities made under this platform played an important role in creating a unique network among students and academics that enhanced the professional development of the students in their fields. The Circle also provided a rare environment in which students were able to develop new ideas and take initiatives, which eventually help them transition to business life.
The Platform later has formed an association in order to broaden the fields of activities, achieve more concrete goals in its focus areas and facilitate the transfer of knowledge and experience in all economic areas in an institutional framework. More specifically, the Economics Circle intends (i) to identify the potential cooperation areas among public – private sector – universities by creating an effective network, (ii) to establish partnerships with relevant national and international institutions and (iii) to contribute to the effectiveness of economic decision-making process.
